So today's post is also the first post of our year 2010. How time flies!
A lot has happened in the last 5 months. Enough for me to feel a bit overwhelmed, and cut out the "un-necessaries", such as writing regularly in a blog. Jogging. Etc.... You know how it goes....hehe...
But life is just too exciting not to share with my contemporaries, so without further adieu, my first blog post (and not the last) is officially dedicated to My Orchid.
Let me explain. My good friend Kristi gave me an orchid baby about 7 years ago. It wasn't very big; it only had 2 leaves, and was about 1 1/2" high. But on its tag, it said: "Pokai, Chocolate & Tangerine Orchid". VERY intriguing.
Well, finally after 7 years of wondering, and watering very carefully, and feeding cautiously....it decided to bloom! And MY GOD....it was worth the wait!
It's a dusky purple-pink-chocolate on it's outer petals, and electric acid yellow with hot violet at its centre. Stunning. Not only that....have you ever smelled a fragrant orchid? I've smelled plenty of orchids, and NONE of them had a fragrance. They were beautiful and exotic, to be sure. But never smelled of anything.
This orchid smells like roses and jasmine, and reminds me of my Grandma. It's so sweet, it makes me want to eat it! Just like Joan Chen as the tragic Empress in "The Last Emperor".
But I won't. Hehe.
So enjoy these photos. Who knows how long it may bloom. I hope it does for a while, at least.....it's Heaven in a terra-cotta pot!

Oh my god that is soooo amazing. Wow seven years is a long time to wait. I'm sure you told Kristi - did it blow her mind??
Yeah, she's totally stoked! Exciting. :)
